A New Kind of Plank

Are You Bored of the Normal Forearms and Toes Plank? Try these variations for a new way to challenge your core! 3 Way Knee Palm Plank 1. Start on palms and toes. 2. Bring your knee to the outside of the palms. Then return to starting position. 3. Bring your knee in between both palms. Then return to starting position. 4. Bring your knee to the outside of the opposite palm. Then return to starting position. Repeat 3x or more. OR 3 Way Knee Forearm Plank 1. Start on forearms and toes. 2. Bring your knee to the outside of the forearms. Then return to starting position. 3. Bring your knee in between both forearms. Then return to starting position. 4. Bring your knee to the outside of the opposite forearm. Then return to starting position. Repeat 3x or more.

Hanging Abdominal Moves

Abs. It seems those flat, wash-board abs are the holy grail of fitness. To get those well-defined abs proves that hard work and the proper diet truly pays off. Commercials and infomercials have shown abs being worked and tortured in every possible way, promising you a flat stomach in just "minutes a day". Guess What? THEY ALL LIE. The hard truth is that a well defined core is a product of good genes, proper diet and effective exercise. Some people have fantastic genes and can eat crappy food without working out and still have a flat stomach. Others will work out frantically but still eat an improper diet and won't see the benefit of their efforts while some eat right and have the genes but aren't working out as efficiently as possible. Working the core is something that should be precise and specific to your body. A common method of working the abs is the dreaded crunch or somehow laying down on the ground. Quick Lower Abs Blast Move

The lower abdominals are particularly tricky to target. This is because the abdominals are all one muscle. The ability to target one section rather than the entire muscle is not possible. It is possible to stress a certain section of the abdominals utilizing resistance, gravity and planes of motion. Depending on your genetics and diet, you may be able to crank out a few reps and the lower abdominals will really pop. For those of us who find it seemingly more difficult to develop the lower region of the rectus abdominis, we have to work a little harder to get definition. Try this move (with variations) on the bench for a challenge: Remember: - This move incorporates hip flexors, be sure to focus on using only the abs by contracting them throughout the move. - The arms are used for a brace, be sure not to rely on your upper body strength throughout the move. - Inhale on the lift, Exhale on the lowering.

Only have 5 minutes to spare? Great! Get your day started off right with this 5 minute abdominal workout. Minute 1: PLANK Trainer's Notes: - Make sure your elbows are directly underneath your shoulders. - Create a straight line from head to toe. - Engage the core by contracting abdominal muscles. - Remember to breathe! Side View: Front View: Minute #2: STABILITY BALL CRUNCH Trainer's Notes: - Roll out on ball until shoulder blades are resting on ball. - Glutes should be off the ball and engaged in a table top position. - Hands do not pull on the neck. - Keep chin parallel to floor with eyes on fixed point on the ceiling. Side View: Front View: Minute #3: BICYCLE CRUNCH Trainer's Notes: - Use a mat cushioned for support. - Cross the elbow over the body to toe the opposite knee. - Hands do not pull on the neck.
